Sarah Ware is a native of Hampton, Virginia. She currently works as a staff RN at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia. Sarah graduated from the University of Virginia with her BSN in 2020. In the summer of 2019, she contributed to this project as a student research intern through the UVA School of Nursing.

Mattering describes when an individual both adds value and feels valued. Mattering is an important contributor to the psychological well-being of individuals and has been found to be associated with lower self-reported burnout in clinicians. Our research demonstrates that positive interprofessional interactions foster mattering for medical and nursing students, as well as practicing clinicians.
