Melanie E. Mayberry, D.D.S., M.S.-HCM is the Division Director of Practice Essentials and Interprofessional Education and a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. She has made significant contributions to dentistry, dental education, patient care, and the health care profession. Dr. Mayberry has a demonstrated skill set of establishing innovative interprofessional education training partnerships and programs with multiple medical and other health professions schools. These programs aim to improve the future health care workforce and patient care experiences. Her contributions and initiatives continue to advance primary care within and beyond the profession of dentistry. Dr. Mayberry is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and was inducted into the Pierre Fauchard International Honor Dental Academy. She maintains a part-time private practice and has a strong interest in interprofessional education, medical-dental integration, and collaborative care. Dr. Mayberry is a graduate of Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry. She completed a General Practice Residency in Hospital Dentistry at the University of Michigan Medical Center and earned her Masters Degree in Health Care Management from the Harvard School of Public Health.

Background: In response to COVID-19, regulations governing Telehealth were relaxed providing new opportunities for patient care delivery. Training students to deliver Telehealth became essential. We developed an interprofessional curriculum to deliver Telehealth education with a focus on recognizing and addressing health disparities.
