Lisa Milhan is an assistant professor for the Occupational Therapy Department in the College of Allied Health and is a Certified Hand Therapist. Prior to changing to a career in academics, she worked as a clinician for over twenty years in a variety of settings. Her current focus is assisting people and communities to increase participation in meaningful occupations through interprofessional interventions and community outreach. She teaches occupational therapy and physical therapy students in courses that include Exploring Communities, Chronic Conditions, and Introduction to Upper Extremity Orthopedics.

Presenting at the Nexus Summit:

Our team developed the Interprofessional Intervention Opportunities Tool (IIOT) for the Unity Clinic, an interprofessional student-run clinic in Oklahoma City. IIOT is a one-page color-coded reference tool that lists common diabetes symptoms and disciplines that can intervene per symptom. The goal of the IIOT is to enable students to think beyond stereotypes of their current and future healthcare team members and allow them to see real-world examples that are within each profession's scope of practice.
