Francine Salinitri, is a clinical professor and the director of experiential education for the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the Wayne State University Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. She provides oversight for the IPE experiences integrated with the experiential education component of the Pharm.D. curriculum. She has collaborated with prescribers to develop both didactic and experiential IPEs and has participated in offerings including IP telehealth events, IP Patient Safety events, and providing guidance for Advanced Pharmacy Students participating in dental rotation experiences. She recently published her work related to IP Patient Safety in Medical Teacher in 2021.

In comparison with well-established models of interprofessional collaboration, pharmacy and dentistry collaborations are still relatively newer in development. Yet, as the medical complexities of patients with oral health concerns continue to increase, it is crucial to equip learners with the skill sets to treat patients more holistically regardless of the clinical setting.
