I am a board certified oral medicine specialist who practices in the Atlanta Metro area. Oral Medicine is the specialty which integrates medicine and dentistry. My practice focuses on treating patients with oral cancer and pre-malignant lesions, oral complications of cancer therapies, oral mucosal disorders, oral manifestations of systemic disease, oral pathologies, dry mouth, Temporomandibular disorders and facial pain. Prior to my current position in private practice I was faculty in oral medicine at the UNC Adams School of Dentistry and an attending at UNC Hospitals.

BACKGROUND Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection in the US and the oropharynx is the most common site of HPV-associated cancer. The FDA’s approval for the nonavalent HPV vaccine expanded in 2020 to include prevention of oral cancers. Oral health practitioners (OHPs) are uniquely situated to recommend HPV vaccination as a primary preventive measure for oropharyngeal cancer (OPC).
