Valentina Brashers, M.D., FACP, FNAP, Emerita Professor of Nursing and retired Internal Medicine Attending Physician, was the founder of the University of Virginia Center for Academic Strategic Partnerships for Interprofessional Research and Education (ASPIRE). She served as the National Academies of Practice Vice President for Interdisciplinary Care. Dr. Brashers was a co–principal investigator for numerous intra- and extramural IPE grants and has coauthored over 25 related IPE journal articles. Dr. Brashers has served as a consultant, panel member, and workshop leader in many educational and clinical settings. She currently co-leads the UVA national Train-The-Trainer Interprofessional Team Development Program (T3-ITDP).

The Train-the-Trainer Interprofessional Team Development Program (T3-ITDP) is a national professional development program for interprofessional teams of health professions educators, clinicians, and administrators. Institutional teams each consisting of three or more members representing at least two professions participate in an interactive 3.5-day training designed to immerse trainees in the design, implementation, and assessment of evidence-based IPE activities and programming.
