Dr. Mitchell is a Registered Nurse with 30 years of experience in health care. Dr. Mitchell is a Clinical Professor at Texas A&M University School of Nursing and Program Coordinator for the Forensic Health Care Program. She teaches in the Master of Science in Nursing in the Forensic Nursing track as well as provides SANE education for the state of Texas in collaboration with the Texas Office of the Attorney General. She is also the Director, of the Center of Excellence in Forensic Nursing at Texas A&M. The Tex-TRAC program is part of the service arm of the Center.

Attendees of this presentation will learn about the Texas Teleforensic Remote Assistance Center (Tex-TRAC) in connecting Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANEs) with hospital clinicians in rural and underserved communities through a Telehealth cart by using a trauma-informed model for patient survivors and hospital clinicians, lessons learned, and challenges of implementing TeleSANE in rural hospitals.
