Dr. Bhattacharya is an interprofessional physician champion at the University of Kansas Medical Center. She is the lead faculty in the Geriatric Interprofessional Assessment Clinic uniting six professions in a synchronous patient care setting. She also wrote COVID guidelines for interprofessional practice sites and received a 5-year HRSA Geriatric Academic Career Award. She created an interprofessional Geriatrics Champions Program, enrolling 200 students annually from seven professions to explore interprofessional geriatric competencies in a team-based-learning setting. Her publications include creating a team rubric, logistics of building an interprofessional course, health policy implementation and employer expectations of graduates from an interprofessional institution.

Interprofessional faculty peer mentoring fosters learning together in the nexus to address what matters most to advance and sustain interprofessional practice and education (IPE). Formal and informal programs utilizing faculty or expert patients as mentors exist for interprofessional students, residents, and fellows and intraprofessional pre-/post-doctoral students, early career faculty, and clinical and translational research learners.
