Sean E. Garcia, MD, FHM, is currently a Professor/Clinical of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio. He is medical director of Pride Clinic, a student faculty collaborative clinic in which nursing students and medical students care for the LGBTQ+ population. In the inpatient setting he has worked to promote a model for patient care, collaborative care, in which all members of the medical team round with the patients at the same time. In this interprofessional model medical and nursing students learn about the contributions of other professionals in the care of patients and witness the value of teamwork.

Organized by faculty and staff members of Linking Interprofessional Networks for Collaboration (LINC), UT Health San Antonio’s Quality Enhancement Plan to advance interprofessional education, interprofessional teams of first- and second-year professional and graduate students were invited to participate in the second annual LINC Interprofessional Case Competition during the spring 2022 semester.
