Dr. Paula Miksa is the Associate Dean and an Associate Professor in PA education. She has worked in several areas of clinical medicine and has had several Director roles in her 13 years in PA education, including her current role as the Program Director for a Doctor of Medical Science Program. She has also served on both national and state boards for her profession. She has a passion for IPE and especially loves learning from and collaborating with other professions.

This lightening talk will address how program accreditation standards require that health professional programs must prepare students to provide medical care to patients with consideration for social determinants of health and to work collaboratively in interprofessional patient centered teams. An essential member of the patient centered team is the patient and with the onset of COVID-19, we have seen a decline in the ability of patients to access health care in traditional ways. Telehealth is one way to improve access to care.
