Nicole Roberts OTD, MOT, OTR/L is an academic fieldwork coordinator and assistant professor for the Occupational Therapy program at University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. She is a graduate of University of the Sciences receiving her BS in Health Science and MOT degrees from the University. Nicole received her OTD from Temple University in May 2017. She has worked in a wide variety of pediatric settings, geriatrics, and home care. In academia, Nicole’s work has focused on preparing students for their fieldwork and ensuring that they are prepared to work in interprofessional teams.
Presenting at the Nexus Summit:
Over the last three years, a dual university virtual interprofessional education (IPE) experience focused on the topic of improving LGBTQ+ healthcare was successfully implemented for counseling, nursing, occupational therapy, pharmacy, and physician assistant students with a high degree of student satisfaction for this learning experience. The purpose of this Lightning Talk, however, is to discuss an aspect of IPE implementation that is often overlooked - facilitator and standardized actor training.
