Nathalia is a full time dental student at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine as well as a dental assistant on the weekends. Nathalia is an active member of the Hispanic Dental Association, Urban Service Track/ AHEC Scholars program, Latino Medical Student Association as well as other activities. She aspires to be a dentist in an underrepresented area emphasizing the importance of oral hygiene education in the pediatric population.

Healthcare profession curriculums provide limited opportunities for students to collaborate with each other across disciplines. If they learn about issues like underserved populations and social determinants of health (SDoH), which truly require team-based care, it is mainly from lectures and textbooks.
