Melanie Quick (she/her) is a second-year medical student at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities Medical School. Melanie graduated magna cum laude from Boston University in 2019 with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering. At BU, she was involved in STEM outreach, mentorship of local robotics teams, and synthetic biology research. After graduation, she conducted research at the University of Pittsburgh in cancer immunology. Now, she is co-president of the Interprofessional Student Garden, co-chairs the Center for Health Interprofessionalism (CHIP) Executive Council, is a member of the Medical School Student Council, and serves on the Women in Medicine board.

The University of Minnesota health interprofessional well-being initiative, BeWELL, conducted a survey in 2020 to gauge interest in initiatives and programming and found that gardening was in the top three preferences expressed by health professional students. As no garden existed on the east bank campus, BeWELL, in conjunction with the Center for Health Interprofessional Programs (CHIP), established an interprofessional student-led garden.
