Meelin Dian Chin Kit-Wells, DDS, MEd, is clinical assistant professor in the school of dental medicine, University at Buffalo, and is a practicing community and pediatric dentist, specializing in working with individuals with disabilities. She is chair of the UB dental medicine equity, diversity, and inclusion committee, is a board member and president elect of the American Academy of Developmental Medicine and Dentistry (AADMD), and has been collaborating with occupational therapy since 2014. Dr. Chin Kit- Wells has received awards including the 2015 Alumni Association Humanitarian Award, the Minority Dental Faculty Development Award for Scholarly Activity and the Dental Women’s Guild Scholarship.

Individuals with intellectual and / or developmental disabilities (IDD) face many barriers to receiving healthcare. Difficulty with sensory processing, motor control, and behavioral expression present barriers to quality dental and health care (Raymaker et al., 2017; Stein-Duker et al., 2019).
