Meaghan Sim is a scientist with the Implementation Science team at Nova Scotia Health (Research, Innovation & Discovery portfolio). Prior to this role, Meaghan was a CIHR Health System Impact Postdoctoral Fellow (2017-2020) with Nova Scotia Health focused on population health integration within the health system. She received her PhD (Interdisciplinary) from Dalhousie in 2017 and her dissertation explored infant feeding practices in low income, food insecure mothers within the added context of excess maternal weight. She is a registered dietitian and her research practice and interests include health impacted through the social determinants of health, maternal and child health and interprofessional practice.

During this lightening talk, we will discuss the findings of our longitudinal research on early interprofessional socialization among health professional students. Socialization of health professionals can impact their future as collaborative practitioners. However, there is a gap in our understanding of best practices in relation to interprofessional education, including how professional socialization impacts perceptions, expectations and practices of collaboration across health professions.
