Dr. Mariette Sourial received her PharmD from Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. She completed an ambulatory care PGY-1 residency through the University of Minnesota in 2011. In 2011, she joined Palm Beach Atlantic University’s Gregory School of Pharmacy as an assistant professor of pharmacy practice and was later promoted to associate professor, where she teaches various topics in the pharmacotherapy series and coordinates and facilitates skills-based courses. Her passion is in helping patients manage their medications particularly during transitions of care and working collaboratively with members of the healthcare team to optimize patient health. She currently serves as the director of interprofessional education within the School of Pharmacy and the associate director for the Office of Interprofessional Education and Practices at Florida Atlantic University.
Presenting at the Nexus Summit:
After a decade of collaboratively providing interprofessional education, Florida Atlantic University and Palm Beach Atlantic University, identified a need to focus on the clinical learning environments to model the competencies in practice. While advances in clinical practice have been made to foster effective healthcare teams, students reflected that they often did not see the IPE core competencies modeled in practice. Educators surmised this might be due to discipline specific educational differences or by providers who did not get any exposure in their educational programming/training…
