Mai Vestergaard is a 4th-year pharmacy student in the dual-degree Master of Public Health Program. Her clinical interests are to develop skills in order to work with diverse, vulnerable populations through public health initiatives, which has been supported by her participating in the Urban Service Track, American Health Education Center Scholars program. She is interested in gaining more clinical pharmacy and public health experiences throughout her clinical rotations. She plans to pursue a PGY1 residency post-graduation with goals of becoming a clinical pharmacist in the academic setting.

Healthcare profession curriculums provide limited opportunities for students to collaborate with each other across disciplines. If they learn about issues like underserved populations and social determinants of health (SDoH), which truly require team-based care, it is mainly from lectures and textbooks.
