Loretta Nunez, M.A., AuD, CCC-A/SLP, ASHA Fellow, FNAP is Senior Director of Academic Affairs & Research Education for the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA). She directs activities supporting academic, clinical, and research education and personnel preparation and faculty development. Dr. Nunez leads ASHA’s Envisioned Future 2025 strategic objective to advance interprofessional education and collaborative practice. She is an Advisory Board member of the American Interprofessional Health Collaborative (AIHC) and is a Distinguished Fellow and Practitioner of the National Academy of Practice in Speech-Language Pathology.

Background/Rationale: The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) is implementing efforts to advance interprofessional education and collaborative practice (IPECP). Barriers to IPECP have been noted in ASHA member perspectives: not fully understanding IPECP as unique from multi- or interdisciplinary services and a lack of perceived added value.
