Dr. Harper-Hanigan is the Program Director for the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at Lincoln Memorial University-Knoxville. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from Dartmouth College and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Southern California. After practicing in outpatient orthopedics for 3 years she switched to acute care practice and completed a Post-Doctoral Research Assistantship at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in qualitative research methods and community-based participatory research. She completed her PhD in Epidemiology from Indiana University-Bloomington. As an educator and therapist, she is passionate about interprofessional education and its integration into entry-level curricula.

Background: Many healthcare professions, including physical therapy, have focused on interprofessional education (IPE) within the context of academic learning yet struggle to apply it in practice.
