With over 25 years of experience in healthcare, Jennifer Smith is the Director of Nursing and a Professor at Harper College in Palatine, Illinois. She currently oversees three programs of the nursing department, and previously taught didactic and clinical nursing courses. Jennifer earned her BS in psychology from St. Lawrence University, her BS in nursing from Georgetown University, and her MSN and MBA degrees from Loyola University, Chicago. She is currently a doctoral candidate at Northern Illinois University, completing her dissertation on resilience strategies used by new graduate nurses during the pandemic.

Harper College has over 12 different health career degree and certificate programs, yet students spend most of their time surrounded by other students in their same program. Students previously graduated without the opportunity to learn much about the professions they would soon be working alongside.
