Hong Chartrand, DrPH, is the AHEC Program Director at A.T. Still University Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. She oversees the HRSA-funded AHEC project and provides leadership to the Missouri AHEC Network to support and grow healthcare workforce development in Missouri. She also has experience in researching and working with healthcare workforce development, health equity, community health workers, behavioral health, chronic diseases and oral health. In addition, she has taught a range of courses, including healthcare quality & safety and interprofessional education & practice.

o Background: Interprofessional education (IPE) is critical to preparing health professions (IP) students to be effective members of the healthcare workforce. Missouri AHEC (MAHEC) offers AHEC-affiliated HP students several interprofessional (IP) programs, utilizing a combination of didactics, experiential training and clinical exposure in rural and underserved settings.
