Heather Allen is the Director of Student Affairs and an Associate Professor of Clinical Comprehensive Dentistry at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Dentistry at New Orleans. Ms. Allen has experience teaching dental public health, clinical nutrition, oral health promotion and disease prevention, and professional development in the Program in Dental Hygiene. Ms. Allen has been an advocate for IPE for the past six years and currently serves as the School of Dentistry Faculty Council Member to the Center for Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice.

The core centerpiece of interprofessional practice is the patient/client or community. Therefore, it is foundational to include the community in interprofessional education opportunities.
