Erin Pauling, PharmD, BCACP is a Clinical Assistant Professor and Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs with the Binghamton University, School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. She is also a member of the Interprofessional Education and Practice (IPE) faculty at the University. Pauling practices as an ambulatory care pharmacist, providing management of anticoagulation in cardiology and primary care settings. Her scholarly interests include anticoagulation, diabetes, interprofessional education, social determinants of health, and the Pharmacists’ Patient Care Process (PPCP).

Poverty is a social determinant of health (SDOH) that interprofessional health care teams are trained to address; yet, students in these educational programs may have limited experience with poverty and its impact on patient and community engagement, care, and outcomes.
