Elizabeth Swann, PhD, ATC, FNAP is the Executive Director of The Center for Interprofessional Education and Practice (CIPEP) at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The CIPEP collaborates with each of the fourteen Colleges and ONE NSU Health executing interprofessional training and programs that align with the University Core Values. She is a graduate of Southwest Texas State University (BS, 1997), University of Texas (MA, 1999), University of Southern Mississippi (PhD, 2001) and has previously worked at East Carolina University. Other roles at the University include a Professor and Director of Interprofessional Integration in the Department of Professional Development and Education at the Dr. Pallavi Patel College of Health Care Sciences in the Health Professions Division. In addition, an affiliated faculty in the Department of Medical Education for the Dr. C. Patel College of Allopathic Medicine and a founding faculty of the Farquhar Honors College. As part of a collaborative team and a co-author on the “Interprofessional Education and Practice in Athletic Training” (2018) white paper for the Athletic Training Education Journal, her scholarship in this area is ongoing. Dr. Swann is part of the planning committee for the Association of Schools Advancing Health Professions (ASHAP) Regional Summit that creates an opportunity for dialogue and action between representatives in academia and the healthcare industry to discuss improves to clinical education. Most recently a founding member of the Florida IPE Consortium working toward collective professional development with interprofessional education and simulation. A TeamSTEPPS Master trainer and the President (2022-2023) of the Junior League of Greater Fort Lauderdale, she maximizes her free time in serving the community.

Nova Southeastern University (NSU), like many others, has experienced the need to shift our curricular activities to a virtual format in the wake of a global pandemic. This includes the ability to offer our learners meaningful interprofessional experiences when they are unable to connect in a physical space.
