Elizabeth Suschana is a second year medical student at University of Connecticut School of Medicine and a member of the Urban Service Track/AHEC scholar program. She has a MSc in Clinical Nutrition from the University of Nottingham where she completed her thesis on maternal dietary intake and knowledge of weaning guidelines. Her research interests include public health, health disparities, and maternal/infant health outcomes.

Healthcare profession curriculums provide limited opportunities for students to collaborate with each other across disciplines. If they learn about issues like underserved populations and social determinants of health (SDoH), which truly require team-based care, it is mainly from lectures and textbooks.
