Cyndi Hovland, Ph.D., MSSW, BSW, is an associate professor and the MSW Program Director at the School of Social Work at Cleveland State University. Her research interests are grounded in nearly 20 years of interprofessional clinical practice in hospice, end-of-life, palliative, and bereavement care. Her recently published work is focused on interprofessional education, Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, family caregiving, death and dying, and grief and loss. She has served as the P.I. and Co-PI on several HRSA grants focused on older adults, interprofessional education and resiliency.

Presenting at the Nexus Summit:

We will describe virtual interprofessional simulation experiences developed as part of our HRSA-funded Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program (GWEP). The simulations promote interprofessional collaboration by mimicking a tabletop team care-planning process for a complex older adult. These experiences were integrated into the curriculum across disciplines at multiple academic institutions.
