Ms. Braun is a Program Manager for the Interprofessional Program at the University of Michigan Medical School. She previously held positions in medical education involving re-accreditation and continuous quality improvement. She has also worked extensively in the clinical phase of undergraduate medical education. As part of this role, she partnered with the Professional Development Branches team during the pilot phase - the advanced clinical training of medical students. This involved working with faculty to develop innovative ways to educate the next generation of doctors and transition to the next phase of training.

BackgroundResearch has consistently shown that interprofessional education (IPE) improves patient-centered care, hence the way it is taught to students is pivotal. Previous studies evaluating an interprofessional teaching approach have proven to be effective in increasing interest in the topic. However, most of these studies involved only physicians and physical therapists. To our knowledge, no studies have examined other health professions teaching medical students.
