Carissa van den Berk Clark, PhD, MSW, is a social worker and an Associate Professor of Family and Community Medicine at St. Louis University. Carissa is deputy director of the Saint Louis University AHEC Program Office, and currently focuses on access to and follow-up with primary care among low-income populations with co-occurring substance abuse and mental health disorders and organizes a St. Louis based Primary Care Research Network, ARCHNet to improve care for these populations.

o Background: Interprofessional education (IPE) is critical to preparing health professions (IP) students to be effective members of the healthcare workforce. Missouri AHEC (MAHEC) offers AHEC-affiliated HP students several interprofessional (IP) programs, utilizing a combination of didactics, experiential training and clinical exposure in rural and underserved settings.
