Bonnie Virag is an assistant professor in the Department of Physical Therapy and serves as the Doctor of Physical Therapy program Community Engagement and Interprofessional Education Coordinator, She is a faculty supervisor for DPT students at the Birmingham Free Clinic and the Community Engagement Center-based Wellness Pavilion. Dr. Virag serves as the Physical Therapy Student Service Board faculty advisor in which she guides student-led activities that are designed to help improve and sustain the health of our local Pittsburgh communities. Her teaching responsibilities include the Professional Development and Leadership course series and assisting with clinical education.
Presenting at the Nexus Summit:
Through establishing the Wellness Pavilion (WP), the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (SHRS) has made a long-term commitment to partner with two historically underserved communities at Community Engagement Centers. The WP aims to make health and wellness services more accessible in Homewood and the surrounding communities through providing interactive educational sessions, services and special events and programming.
