Dr. Blake Nichols, MD is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Associate Program Director for the Pediatric Critical Care Fellowship Program at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He received his medical degree from UT Southwestern in 2012, after which he completed residency in general pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in 2015, and fellowship in pediatric critical care in 2018 at UTSW. He also serves as Director of the PICU simulation curriculum and is involved in a multitude of projects using simulation-based medical education to improve inter-professional education amongst multiple levels of learners. He is studying the effects of simulation with interprofessional learners and hopes it will ultimately lead to improved patient care.

Introduction: TeamFIRST is an institutional program founded to address educational gaps in communication and teamwork for interprofessional learners at UT Southwestern. The longitudinal curriculum consists of five modules that build upon each other to teach teamwork competencies.
