Dr. Abu-Baker is the Associate Dean for Clinical & Professional Affairs and Clinical Professor at Texas A&M’s Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy. He has held appointments at California Health Sciences University College of Pharmacy as Associate Professor of Clinical Sciences and Chair of the Department of Clinical & Administrative Sciences; St. John Fisher College as Associate Professor, Interim Department Chair, and Assistant Director of Experiential Education; and Assistant Professor at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine School of Pharmacy. He completed his PharmD and an Ambulatory Care/Internal Medicine Residency at the Albany College of Pharmacy.

Values/Ethics for Interprofessional Practice is addressed less frequently in the published literature than the other IPEC Core Competencies of Roles and Responsibilities, Interprofessional Communication, and Teams and Teamwork. This may reflect a dearth of efforts to fully integrate this competency into interprofessional curricula. Such a deficiency is problematic in that managing complex ethical situations while maintaining mutual respect and common values is a substantial challenge, particularly across professions.
