Ashley von Dohlen received her Master’s Degree in Health Sciences from the Drexel University Physician Assistant Program in 2008. She practiced in general surgery for 3 years, and has spent the last 10 years practicing in emergency medicine. In 2019, Ashley joined the faculty of the Thomas Jefferson University Physician Assistant Program. She is an academic coordinator and teaches the Physical Diagnosis, Emergency Medicine, and Advanced Physical Assessment courses. Ashley lives in Bucks County, PA with her husband, Nick, and their adopted senior cat, Hunter. She enjoys cooking and baking, traveling, and practicing Pilates.

Description: This seminar will highlight the pedagogical development, implementation, and evaluation of an interprofessional substance use disorder (SUD) symposium for nurse practitioner, pharmacy, and physician assistant studies students. The intent of the SUD symposium was to prioritize self-discovery of stigma and its impact on how we care for persons with SUDs. The pedagogical approach for the SUD symposium was to emphasize collaborative practice with the aim of increasing appreciation of the interprofessional aspects of SUD patient care.
