Ana Abad-Jorge, Ed.D., RDN, FAND is an Assistant Professor in clinical nutrition at James Madison University within the Dept. of Health Professions and the Dietetics Program. She holds an Ed.D. in higher education and adult learning, an M.S. in Food Science & Human Nutrition, and is a Fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (FAND). Ana practiced clinical nutrition at the University of Virginia Health System for 27 years as a pediatric registered dietitian/nutritionist (RDN) in acute pediatrics, pediatric clinics, the Newborn ICU and the Pediatric ICU. She serves as the dietetics representation to the Interprofessional Education Committee.

Interprofessional collaboration matters. Not only does it affect the quality of care clients receive, it affects the work climate and integration of interprofessional education (IPE) in health profession programs across all fields. In order for health practitioners to be effective interprofessional collaborators, interprofessional education (IPE) must be systematically integrated into their curriculum to support the development of foundational knowledge, skills, and core values necessary to navigate Interprofessional Practice (IPP).
