Aloha Balza is the Coordinator for the Office of Community Engagement and the Office of Interprofessional Education and Practice at Florida Atlantic University. She is charged with developing strategies related to the institution’s community-engaged programs. She also works collaboratively to create and implement interprofessional programming for medical, nursing, and social work students. Her responsibilities include collecting and reporting CE and IPE&P assessment data. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from New York University and her Master of Public Administration degree from Florida Atlantic University. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the School for Public Administration at FAU.

After a decade of collaboratively providing interprofessional education, Florida Atlantic University and Palm Beach Atlantic University, identified a need to focus on the clinical learning environments to model the competencies in practice. While advances in clinical practice have been made to foster effective healthcare teams, students reflected that they often did not see the IPE core competencies modeled in practice.
