Dr. Allison Newton is an Assistant Professor and Program Director for the Master’s in Public Administration program in the Department of Emergency Management and Public Administration at Jacksonville State University (JSU). She has conducted research with student Veterans focused on their unique needs as they transition from military life to civilian life in higher education. She is also involved in research that examines the cost homelessness has on the local community. Her research interests include interprofessional education focused on providing collaborative and innovative solutions to interdisciplinary problems.

Interprofessional Education promotes teamwork and innovation across disciplines to transform the learning experiences across health-care professions. IPE practices were occurring at Jacksonville State University (JSU, Alabama) but were not operationalized to include IPECs core competencies.
