Allen Knehans, PhD, served the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center as a faculty and administrator for nearly 40 years before his retirement in 2021. His primary research interests focused on improving the eating habits of those with disability, especially children with disability. He has over 50 peer-reviewed publications to his credit and has received multiple grants to pursue his research interests.

An estimated 46-89% of children with autism present with pediatric feeding disorder, characterized by selective eating, which negatively impacts their nutrition and health. Registered dietitian nutritionists (RDN) and speech-language pathologists (SLP) serve as key interprofessional team members to improve patient outcomes in this population.
