Inclusive Interprofessional Teams and Workforce Development

In this Conversation Café, we will build on ideas shared in 2021 to continue to explore opportunities for leveraging our interprofessional practice and education strategies to build and grow a more diverse, representative, and effective healthcare workforce. Specifically, we will discuss barriers to and opportunities for ensuring that all care providers are valued and recognized as vital members of the care team. This includes colleagues serving as medical assistants and community health workers who may feel excluded from full team participation. What is the source of this sense of exclusion? Are there institutional or cultural barriers? Is it due to differences in training, variability in certification or licensure requirements, limits on scope of practice, or inadequate professional identity formation? Join us for an in-depth discussion to identify strategies to ensure that our interprofessional teams and systems are diverse, inclusive, and support sustainability of a strong healthcare workforce.
